Abstract: Women are at higher risk for autoimmunity while men are more likely to die of infectious disease. To better understand immune system sex differences, we performed an integrated multi-cohort analysis of gene expression microarrays, and identified a robust gene expression Immune Sex Expression Signature (ISEXS) between healthy men and women in white blood cells. We found that autosomal ISEXS gene expression changed with age, with implications for autoimmunity.
