Abstract: A need was identified to provide training for biomedical researchers whose work could be enhanced by data science techniques. A class was developed both to assist biomedical researchers in recognizing where data science techniques could provide new insights in their field and to facilitate more effective collaborations between data scientists and biomedical researchers. By eliciting researchers’ project ideas, this class also helps to gauge the need for data science resources at the institution.
Learning Objective 1: Provide effective training for biomedical researchers whose work would benefit from the use of data science techniques
Learning Objective 2 (Optional): Bridge the disciplinary differences in language and perspective that can hamper successful collaboration between data scientists and biomedical researchers
